Fear. Webster dictionary defines fear as an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous. Fear is also defined as a feeling of anxiety concerning the outcome of something. Have you ever experienced fear? I am somewhat certain we all experience this feeling, especially when stepping into something new and unknown. I’ve been experiencing this feeling a lot lately and have found ways to push through. This feeling is not one to be ignored. I’m not telling you to make silly choices. This fear we are talking about is the feeling that creeps in when you are about to do something awesome that will launch you to the next level in life.
Experiencing the feeling of fear is normal, allowing it to paralyze you is not.
Dwelling on the fearful what-ifs in life is a distraction and a waste of time. Learning to focus on the positive what-ifs propels us into action. Mental discipline and clarity is one of the most important aspects to live life in complete freedom.
Is there something right now you know should be accomplished, but fear is in the way?
Our mind is a battlefield and one we have to war with every single day, whether we realize it or not. I’ve found three different ways to WAR with FEAR. My heart is that we all find freedom from fear and run our race with endurance. I love the quote above from W. Clement Stone that says “Thinking will not overcome fear but action will.” I have found this to be very true in my life.
Treat FEAR as the ENEMY.This is easier said than done most days; however the feeling of fear does not come from a good place. This feeling does not want you to succeed in life, it wants to hold you back. Fear is the enemy and we are the soldier waging war. Battling fear is mostly mental. Did you know 95% of the things we worry about never happen? Know the truth. I love the quote, “We worry about tomorrow like it’s promised!” None of us are promised tomorrow, so start living today. Quit dwelling and start doing. This is the way to WIN the fight against FEAR.
One – Journal out your fears, look back and start to notice how ridiculous they seem. This has helped me tremendously because failing in front of the world isn’t that scary. One thing is for certain, life is short and we are not promised tomorrow. We must begin truly living today.
Two – Find your circle of influence to push you past the fear. This part is easier said than done, I know. However, finding those people that will push you and show some much needed hard love at times is necessary to step into that next level. Creating a circle of influence is not accidental. Sometimes amazing individuals do come into our lives unexpectedly; however it is up to us to keep them engaged. Start building those relationships and create a circle of influence that will hold you up through the storms of life.
Three – Activate yourself to push you past the fear and fight to stay positive even in the midst of the unknown. This could mean many different things such as working out, learning a new skill, meeting new people, or signing up for the thing that scares you the most and just do it. Activating yourself is important to push past fear. Sign up, step out, and get going. YOU can do this!
I hope this has helped you in some way. Remember, fear is only as big as we make it in our minds. Whatever you are facing, you can overcome. I believe in you.
Love,
